Opening of the exhibition of Montefalco wines with the President of the Regional Council
of Umbria Maria Rita Lorenzetti.
More than thirty wineries show the new vintages of the Rosso di Montefalco doc,
Sagrantino di Montefalco docg and Sagrantino Passito docg (sweet version),
with the possibility of tasting them.

Opening of the exhibition “Sagrantino in paintings”- sixth year
Each year a renowned comic-strip writer – this year Paolo Bacilieri-  proposes his interpretation of the official label of the new vintage of the Sagrantino di Montefalco docg.
Also the works of the previous year artists are displayed in the art show, as Miguelanxo Prado, Lorenzo Mattotti and Vittorio Giardino’s ones, besides the ones of the comic-strip writer of this year.

Opening of the photographic exhibition “Scatti Divini”
The photographic exhibition on the world of wine takes place in Montefalco for the first time.
Wine and its background in more than hundred clicks  in colour and in black and white made by young European photographers.

Technical meeting with experts and businessmen of the production and marketing
of the wine-growing and wine-producing sector about the characteristics of the
local wine production of high quality, as the Montefalco Wines doc and docg
 - above all the Sagrantino docg -, and about promotion strategies, exploitation and
tutorship of the product. A tasting of the local wines of certificated quality
will follow the meeting; it will be conducted by an expert.

WINE TASTING CONDUCTED BY  THE A.I.S. UMBRIA
In the rooms of the Rocca della Fortezza of Gualdo Cattaneo an expert of the Umbrian section of the Italian Sommelier Association describes 5 different bottles of the new vintage
of the Sagrantino of Montefalco, during a tasting combined with typical products or confronted with
the greatest wines from all over the world.

The tour has the purpose to let the oenoturists (but not only) discover the secrets of the
most interesting wineries of the area with an expert guide. The tour includes: visit of the town,
tasting in two wineries and lunch with typical products and Montefalco wines.

This year the
After Vittorio Giardino (2001), Lorenzo Mattotti (2002), Sergio Toppi (2003), Horacio Altuna (2004) and Miguelanxo Prado (2005), this year the author of the official label of the new vintage
of the Sagrantino di Montefalco docg is Paolo Bacilieri of Verona,
the most interesting Italian comic-strip writer of the new generation. His works, as Barroko and Durasagra, brought about the change in the eighties and in the nineties. Now he contributes to Napoleone and Pollok newspapers. The art exhibition (free entrance during the Oenological Week only) also includes Paolo Bacilieri’s most important paintings and the  original Sagrantino labels of the previous years.   

Photographic Exhibition “Scatti Divini”

After Firenze, Verona and other towns, the photographic exhibition “Scatti Divini”
on the world of wine and its background takes place in Montefalco during the Sagrantino week.
It is a selection of the best photos made by young European photographers on oenology, culture, history and tradition through characters, instruments, architectonic structures, machineries,
landscapes and wine lands.

Sagrantino Film Festival
Sagrantino Film Festival will take place in Montefalco for the first time.
 It is a manifestation characterized by the culture of good wine and good cinema.
In Montefalco, known as the chief seat of Sagrantino wine, there are other cultural manifestations, as the Comic-Strip Writer Exhibition and the Master Label Exhibition. Culture-wine couple still goes on with this festival, since wine is looked upon not only as a commercial product, but also as a cultural richness.
Sagrantino Film Festival intends to pay homage each year to a master of Italian cinema. Ugo Tognazzi (actor, director, fond of food and wine, besides women) has been chosen for this first manifestation.
The program includes: the showing of movies (“Amici miei”, “Il Federale”, “Anatra all’arancia”, “La grande abbuffata”), meetings with cinema critics and Tognazzi’s friends, free movie showing in the square of Montefalco and Gualdo Cattaneo, dinners (reservation is required) based on the recipes of Ugo Tognazzi himself, combined with wine tasting and movie showing in the Sagrantino wineries.

Red&Black
The deep red of Montefalco Wines meets the dark Black of Perugina.
In collaboration with the Eurochocolate manifestation a tasty anticipation of the sweetest
Festival of the year with a great combining: wine & chocolate.
Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th, at the National Sweet Wine Centre

Tuscan Cigar Club
For the second year the Oenological Week welcomes the Tuscan Cigar Club.
On Saturday and Sunday only, a practical demonstration of the Tuscan Cigar processing
and tasting conducted by the journalist Fabrizio Franchi.
